Confirmation of professional qualifications in the field of education

Introduction

When to apply for a certificate of professional competence for regulated professions in education?

You submit this application if you have completed your training in the Slovak Republic and the authority or body abroad has asked you to submit a confirmation of which teaching professions you can practise in your home country. 

You do not submit this application in the following cases:

• for clarification of pedagogical competence acquired in the Slovak Republic for employers and institutions in the Slovak Republic (please contact the Secondary Schools and Lifelong Learning Section of the Ministry of Education, Research, Development and Youth of the Slovak Republic) 
• if you have acquired your teaching qualification abroad and wish to apply it in the Slovak Republic (the process of recognition of professional qualifications from abroad applies)
• if you wish to confirm competence for another regulated profession (FAQ certificates)

Processing time

The processing time for this type of application is 1 month. The processing time starts upon receipt of a complete application.

Result of the application and further action

The outcome of the application is a certificate of pedagogical competence issued in the Slovak language. If a certificate in another language is required, translation of the certificate is provided to the foreign authority by the applicant.

Paper application submission

A paper submission is a submission by post or at the office of the Ministry of Education, Research, Development and Youth of the Slovak Republic at the following address:

Fill out, print and sign the application form:

Attach to the application form:

1. power of attorney if you are applying on behalf of another person (enter your details in the "applicant" section and sign the application, fill in the holder's details in the "document holder" section)
2. a copy of your identity/residence card or passport (if you are the proxy, also the holder of the educational document)
3. certified copy of your teaching qualification (you may attach more than one document if they entitle you to different professions)
4. proof of the payment of the administrative fee (eKolok) of 15 EUR (service code 6356)

The administrative fee can be purchased at the post office or by the service code in the eKolok mobile app or web app at https://m.ekolky.gov.sk), the proof of payment is a document with a QR code (sample).

If you are submitting an application, please ensure that the mailbox is properly marked with your name at the contact address provided in the application so that you can receive the official mail in reply. Please do not send the application more than once. An application submitted repeatedly on the same matter will be dealt with by one decision only.

 

 

 

 

Electronic application submission

Prepare an activated electronic identity document (OP with chip) and a reader.

Fill in the electronic form on the Central Portal of Public Administration (www.slovensko.sk):

Upload as attachments:

1. your own scan of your ID/residence card or passport (if you are the proxy, also the holder of the document)
2. your own scan or a certified conversion of the power of attorney if you are applying on behalf of another person
3. certified conversion of your teaching qualification (several documents may be attached if they entitle you to different professions)
4. the administration fee at the reduced electronic rate of EUR 7,50 (pay by credit card when submitting the electronic application or have the payment prescription sent to your electronic mailbox, it is not necessary to purchase an eKolok in advance) 

Please sign the application electronically before sending. Please do not sign attachments. An attachment signed by you is not equivalent to a certified conversion.
