Recognition of professional qualifications
Recognition of professional qualifications is the process of oficial decisionmaking on the equivalence of a formal qualification or other professional qualification (i.e. non-formal education, professional experience) obtained in a member state or a third country for the purpose of gaining access to a so-called regulated profession.
Database of regulated professions
If you would like to establish yourself in Slovakia and practise a regulated profession listed in the database, you will need to undergo the procedure of professional qualifications recognition. The specific requirements and responsible authorities for each regulated profession are included in the database.
The decisive factor is the profession you want to pursue, not the field of study you studied abroad. Professions that are not listed in the database are considered unregulated (there are no qualification requirements or they are too general) and the process of recognition of professional qualifications does not apply.
More information can be found in the articles below and in the FAQ section. If something is unclear, you may consult the contacts of the Centre for Recognition of Diplomas, which is the assistance centre for regulated professions and will navigate you to the correct recognition procedure.
